Introduction to Peppermint plants:
Peppermint is an aromatic perennial plant. It is a hybrid mint, a cross between water mint and Spearmint indigenous to Europe and the Middle East. It belongs to the family Lamiaceae and grows throughout North America, Asia, and Europe.
Peppermint was first cultivated in England. In the British herbal pharmacopeia, it is described as a remedy for intestinal colic, gas, cold, morning sickness, and menstruation pain.
The plant is cultivated for its oil. The Latin name of this oil is Mentha Piperita which belongs to the Labiatae family and commonly grows 2-3 feet long, having violet in color flowers and leaves dark growing color.
The Properties and Components of Peppermint Oil:
The most active components of Peppermint oil are menthol (30% - 40%) and menthone (20% - 30%).
It is also comprised of many other minor constituents including mentha furan, limonene, and 1,8 -cineole.
The chemical composition of the leaves of peppermint may vary with geographical region, plant maturity, and processing conditions.
Application
The Applications of Peppermint Oil:
1. Peppermint Oil contains a large quality of menthol, so it is widely used in gum, toothpaste, ice cream, and so on.
2. Peppermint Oil is good for the skin. Bulk peppermint oil can cold skin and improve the condition of dry and oiled skin.
3. Peppermint Oil is good for hair. It can clean dandruff and head louse, especially good for oiled hair.

Uses of Peppermint Oil:
1. It is used along with Wintergreen oil to treat pain from tension headaches and migraines.
2. For stomach pain and diarrhea, we can apply two to three drops of oil on the stomach, massage gently, or mix a few drops of oil in warm water and drink it.
3. For muscle pain, we can apply such high-quality oil after mixing a few drops with carrier oil on the affected area. It gives a cooling and calming effect on muscles, which reduces pain.
4. For headaches, we can take a few drops of oil and apply them to the temples and back of the neck. It gives relief from pain and also helps to relax.
5. Take a few drops of this essential oil, Massage the oil gently on the scalp. You feel a tingling sensation. Leave the oil on the scalp for half an hour and then wash the hair with shampoo.
